Any other characters currently in-game? Cersei Lannister

CHARACTER INFO
Name: Roxane Laland

Gender: Female
Source: Homestuck [AU: Troll]
Canon point: n/a, as she is from an AU (For a close canon-counterpoint, it would be parallel to some time before canon-Jane's entry, after getting truth bombs dropped on her by eldritch abomination Mom and exploding in a fit of dnw destiny. Probably after sipping a martini.)
Age: 7 sweeps
Colour: #F14197 (actually this is Jaspersprite's color on the tyrian color palette - Roxy's color looked washed out and hard to read so hello, kitty)
Chumhandle: thalassicGnostalgia

History: Non-AU Canon Link

The current rule of Alternia is seated off-planet. Several sweeps ago, her successor was born and taken to the water. This is a story we have heard before.

Like that other story, the heiress in this one grew up mostly alone. The current regime, led by an ambitious Empress, believed that knowledge was the key to prosperity - and not just knowledge, but understanding how to use it. A mass, universe-wide campaign was thus launched: an Intelligence Expansion, if you will.

Truth and knowledge - mostly the pursuit thereof - therefore became a tantalizing aspiration for young trolls. Adolescents dreamed of adventure, becoming HEROES! of truth and knowledge with suitably punny names.

Roxane, for her part, stayed below and did science. In a way, this was part of her own quest for knowledge - a hypocrisy she is at least willing to acknowledge. Occasionally bringing aquatic animals for "experiments," she found that they occasionally stuck around. She never had the heart to kick them out, instead reminding them daily that she has no idea why they would elect to stay in her hive.

Though she spent so much of her life with fish and sea floor horrors (a lusus capable of VAST GLUBBING is terrifying to everyone except her), Roxy somehow settled into a small, niche group of very swell land-dwelling friends. Left to their own devices and prone to shenanigans, the four friends became close over the course of many hijinks both virtual and in person (the former far more frequent than the latter, seeing as their hives were spaced such a far distance apart).

And the Alternian fleet kept looking for answers, playing with enigmatic fire. For who can say what you will find in the furthest reaches of space? It's as dangerous as dredging up the sea floor, where everything ancient and indestructible lives.

The Empress found something out there, and Alternia's fleet went D A R K.

Planetside, nothing much seemed to change. If the ships were constantly out of contact, who could say that they hadn't just drifted, incommunicado, into some outer ring of the universe? With no one to curb the descent, the Grimdark Empress has been tearing through the world on a controlled bender of powerful fury, an action generally considered the natural progression of things.

But Roxane knows.

Her lusus knows, and she tells Roxane. She tells her things she doesn't want to hear, about the Empress and about Roxane's role to play in Alternia's future. Shit like, 'you will be a warrior of the dark' and the fall of brightness.

The story's hard to sell, even to her friends; some of them have been easier to convince than others.

In the absence of the empire's now-lost ruler, the inevitable eventuality that Roxane will one day come of age and take on the challenge and responsibility of claiming the throne for herself is staring her in the face. She will have to be better than everyone who came before her - she will be the strongest and the brightest heiress the world has ever known!

And she's terrified.

Personality: Roxane is clever. She is inventive, creative, and very emotional.

She is also amazingly lonely. Which is very nearly every troll, and also every Roxy, so why is this a surprise? All of her friends are landdwellers; she spends the time she can on land, but it's never very much. Her lusus is engaged in a passive aggressive caretaker relationship with her, and is consistently spilling prophecies that sound solely dangerous and place ultimate death and ruin on her (there's no possible way that isn't on purpose, just to get under her fins).

Despite being an emotional girl, she finds it difficult to process (and handle) her own feelings. She tends to fall briefly and hard into quadrants without reciprocation; when they are reciprocated, she balks through the commitment dance and starts to get unsteady.

Beyond that, for all that she can be said to truly care, Roxane isn't the best at showing it. Even when attempting to share in her friends interests, she expresses her camaraderie with teasing, pushy words. She doesn't think she makes a particularly good caregiver (why would anyone really want her looking after then, anyway?), and tends to show her concern in backhanded and even snide ways, criticizing actions to discourage them and disguising her offers of assistance under snark. She is articulate and can get pretty wordy, making this the easiest method she has to hiding her emotions - because otherwise, they're a bit transparent. As unintentionally as she can bully through her friends' emotions, she is also very fast to defend those she likes - though typically this boils down to death threats.

The aforementioned desire to "out-empress" the current imperial purpleblood is not only a lifelong goal, but a very daunting one. Roxane has a lot to live up to, a lot to prepare for (a lot to convince herself not to run and hide from). Her decision to type in a color outside of her blood shade is even less a rebellious action to upstage her predecessors and more a personal denial. It hurts, but it's necessary.

It's running away, and that's something Roxane is very good at. Funny snark, deflective turns of phrase, and attempting to turn off her own consciousness are all childish, but effective coping mechanisms. She knows better than to go near sopor slime; she's not an idiot. Never ever.

Ever.

(Ever.)

But fermented fruitstuffs - what harm can that do? Probably the discovery of a global technology that distilled and produced alcohol was not Alternia's finest moment (for anyone except Roxane).

She has a "passing disinterest" in magic and a mind for science, having gone so far as to create her own laser gun like a good alien action adventure girl.

You would expect her to have some kind of trident, perhaps.

But lasers.

Abilities & physical limitations: As a tyrian, Roxane has a lengthened lifespan and increased durability and strength. She is resilient to physical damage (at the very least, she can take a lot of it without dying) and can deal out a fair amount on her own in hand-to-hand. However, she prefers ranged combat with her laser and aside from furiously punching in a blind rage, doesn't offer the most perfected fighting technique. She also doesn't wear any body armor (tank top and skirt...), leaving herself exposed - even though she is biologically able to take the damage, it can still hurt.

Appearance:Roxane is on the slender side with a lot of thin muscle definition. She has short hair, the aquatic fins/gills present in all water-dwllers, and horns that curve outward into s-shaped curves, a little like butterfly antennae (or a tilde?).

KYNE DREW DIS

Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: oh wow making one of the kids a troll this is really original and has never been done before

oh wow roxy is at the top of the hemospectrum that has totally never been done before either

Alternia is little changed (trolls are trolls), but the planet under a Grimdark Rose has differences that come in shades. Then again, what better way to prepare for a video game featuring a giant, bloody chess match than to be raised in a society that values aggressive appropriation of knowlege (boy, what a shame that this life is without SBURB!)? There's a fair amount of this AU that relies on innate personalities hitting the wall of a different storyline and seeing what still sticks. It would be unfair not to say that at her core there's still a lot of Roxane that is inherently Roxy.

Other than the physiological differences, the social/psychological consequences of growing up troll bleed in to all the little (and big) differences in Roxane's personality. For example, the inclination towards science seen in Roxy and her pre-scratch self are present, but skewed, as might be expected in a more aggressive society, towards weapons technology and the like.

So, while many of Roxane's personality traits align with her canon counterpart, there are some which manifest differently or are changed from the original source. Roxane is much toothier and a little ruder, but she is also more fearful, her hesitance occasionally dipping fully into cowardice. The Roxy who struggled to kiss the corpse of her best friend, who sabotaged computers to try and keep people away from SBURB - this Roxy is amplified in Roxane's choices and actions. She will hurt people to get away. She will reject text hemotyping to shirk who she is.

The game doesn't inspire the same apprehension in Roxane as it does in her canon counterpart for similar reasons. Because SBURB isn't dangerous (except for being violent and deadly. so, it's dangerous), it is her chance to be completely without responsibilities, beat the snot out of monsters, and not have to worry about some bullshit dark magic!

TL;DR: trolls.

She has a quirk! It's cute. u -> ~ (I know it looks a little more wavy than anything else but ~ sort of looks a little like slurring doesn't it) and infrequent alcohol-related puns when appropriate (some of the more obvious ones being things like 'stop wining' and 'partini pooper'). When VERY UPSET, she might even drop a 'glub' or a fishy thing or two.

Strife Specibus: laserkind
Prototyping: Experifish; a mutated angler fish/catfish experiment that has been hanging around her hive the longest. SHE DIED TRAGICALLY JUST BEFORE ENTRY.

Underlings get those creepy little luring lanterns hanging over their eyes and even creepier whisker-teeth.
Title: Lush of Bright
In-game abilities: The Lush is an active class. One (Roxane) would assume that 'Bright' took the form of some physical manifestation of lightness, and therefore would amount to the inevitable 'destroyer with/of light.'

Psych. Because Bright is a mental element, without encroaching on anything related to Seers or the like. It's an enhancing aspect, meant to amplify other abilities and support allies by giving a power+attitude boost.

It could therefore be said that the Lush of Bright makes her coplayers literally drunk with power.

Planet: Land of Pits and Resplendence

LOPAR is dark and cool like an underwater cave (and even takes on the appearance of a cavern network), completely covered with luminescent, protruding crystals forming spiny, coral-like protrusions. The pits for which the planet is named vary in size and depth, some filled with cool, dark water, the others empty, raw crags. The consorts are bright pink miniature horses who want to protect the natural crystal desposits, as their local economy hinges on refining the deposits. To their dismay, the Denizen, Veles (who appears to eat the crystal), has been causing cave-ins and killing many of the adult horses while they attempt to do their mining, leaving behind orphans and broken homes.
